To get the most out of guided. and create high-quality, engaging content, follow these best practices, as we know them today:

1. Plan Your Recording

  • Define the exact process you want to capture and outline the steps involved.

  • For any keyboard inputs required during capture, pre-write them in a notepad or document outside the browser window.

    • This ensures clean, error-free inputs when recording.

2. Prepare Your Environment

  • Close unnecessary applications and browser tabs to reduce distractions.

  • Ensure your desktop is clean and organized.

  • Set up any required software or websites you'll be demonstrating.

3. Practice Your Content Capture

  • Do a dry run of the entire process to ensure you're not missing any steps.

  • Identify key mouse clicks and keyboard inputs that will be captured.

  • Aim for efficiency: plan to showcase the process with as few inputs as possible while still being comprehensive.

4.. Craft Your AI Prompts in Advance

  • Before editing, write out the AI prompts you intend to use for written elements or AI voiceovers.

    • Currently, this feels most appropriate to do when planning and practicing your content capture.

5. Optimize Your Capture Settings

  • Adjust your screen resolution or browser window size to ensure clarity in the final content.

6. Use Annotations Effectively

  • Plan where you'll add annotations, highlights, or callouts to emphasize key points.

  • Keep annotations concise and relevant to avoid cluttering the content.

7. Focus on Key Actions

  • Remember that guided. only captures screenshots when you make mouse or keyboard inputs.

  • Make each action deliberate and meaningful to ensure it adds value to your demonstration.

8. Optimize Number of Layers

  • Aim for 15-20 layers (input captures) when your planning to produce an Interactive Tour

    • this translates to approximately 2-5 minutes for most users

9. Leverage Playlists for Complex Topics

  • For complex processes, you may have significantly more than the 20 recommended layers but be mindful of user engagement.

  • For multi-step processes or comprehensive training, we've found breaking it into multiple, shorter demos, and the organizing them into playlists to work quite well

  • This helps users navigate through related content seamlessly.

By following these best practices, you'll create more effective, engaging, and valuable content with guided., enhancing the learning experience for your audience.
